TROLL KIDS

There are lots of little Troll Children in Trolldom. And just like their human counterparts, they can be cute and sweet, wild and wonderful, impossible and interesting. Take a look at what it might be like to be a Troll Kid.

Board games are fun, and here you see some of the Troll kids playing one of their favorites, Trolldomonopoly. It's pretty much like the regular Monopoly. Troll kids also like card games, especially 'Donkey' and 'Go Fish'. Rosie, Mushroom Joey, Sumppi boy Timmy and Poppa were having a perfectly nice game here, but as you can see, that's about to change! Mudhats are really mean and  if you're not careful, things will get messy.
Basketball is a popular game in Trolldom, too. Papa Poppa is trying to teach the kids, Poppa Boy and Noppa Girl about things like lay-ups and dunking and so on, while Mama Noppa is busy making sure that the basketballs stay clean. 'Daddy, can you make me taller right now? Please? Then I could get this ball in the basket, I'm sure" said Poppa Boy. "Daddy, can I ride on your shoulders, please Daddy, please", said Noppa Girl.
Mushroom Harry was having a lot of fun with his boat, sailing it down one of the little creeks near the Mushroom Fire Station. Little Sneaky, the toughest of all the little Mudhats showed up. "Gimme that boat!" he demanded.
"NO, it's MY boat" said Harry.
"I'll take it! And you can't stop me!" said Little Sneaky.
"You can't just take it, it's mine" said Harry. They continued like that for a while, until the boat had sailed out of sight. Little Sneaky didn't want to run after it.
In the wintertime, Troll kids like to build snow forts and have snow fights. Sometimes Little Busters come to help.

On this day things didn't go smoothly. Three big Mudhats came and took over the fort!
"That is nasty!" said Noppa girl.
"It's okay, we've got lots of ammunition!" said Sumppi boy Timmy.
"Wow, now we'll have a REAL snow fight!" said Mushroom Joey to Harry. It was a terrific snow fight! Mudhats had no idea how accurately the Troll kids can throw their snowballs!

Trolls like to sing and the kids are no exception. They asked Peetu to be their choir master, and they practice once a week.

For special occasions, they prepare special songs. If you read the story about the disappearance of Boxtroll's Spaceship, you'll find out how knowing a whole bunch of songs can be an especially good thing...

Did you ever have a tree house? Here is the one the Sumppi children built, with a little bit of help (ok, quite a lot of help) from Mom and Dad.

"Mommy, I'm going to stay here FOREVER!" said Sumppi girl Linn.
"Me, too, if I never come down, then I don't have to go to school, right?" said her brother Timmy.
"How can we get them down?",  wondered Papa Sumppi.
"Like this", said Mama. "Children, we brought cookies and lemonade!" The kids came down immediately.

Now, doesn't this look like fun! This place is called the SPEED BUMP HILL - it's a pretty steep hillside with a few interestingly placed bumps on it. In this case you actually want to avoid the bumps, otherwise your little cart may take off way too fast, flip over or crash. (Usually the boys go right over the bumps and the girls try to go around them. Are you surprised?)

As you can see, the boys are coming down the hill recklessly, each one trying to be the one to get there first. And as always, it's the going up the hill that's going to wear you out.

The girls here at the bottom corner are planning a campaign to get Honeylips to build a kid-lift onto the side of the hill.

Birthday parties are a lot of fun, too. Everybody has a fancy party hat, and Noppa girl is decorating the tree with some nice, long ribbon.

The cake - a chocolate cake with pretty vanilla icing - is being carefully watched by Joey the Mushroom. It's his sister Susie's birthday, but we're not sure how old she is because there aren't any candles on the cake. (Why aren't there candles? Well, the party is outside and it's a windy day.)

The Muksu Trolls, Blueberry and Rosie, are getting nervous, because Mustard Moe and Red Peppa are late. They better not be late for the cake!

Little Mushrooms like to help out at the Fire Station, and one of their favorite things to do is to play with the fire hoses.

But it's frustrating to be a Little Mushroom and not be allowed to actually put out fires. So... what happened here? Oh, they were so brilliant! First the Little Mushrooms  complained to Mr. and Mrs. Mushroom that they were REALLY COLD, so Mr. Mushroom started a cozy fire in the fireplace. Then, when the parents weren't looking, they quickly proceeded to put out the fire.

Rainy days are fun, too.

On this day there was a lot splishing and splashing going on.
Little Sumppi Girl Linn wanted to finish reading her book even though it pouring rain. "This is what umbrellas are for, isn't it?" she said when asked about it.

Muksu Trolls didn't want their hair to get all wet, and there you see Blueberry bringing a nice big hat for Mustard Moe. Hat or no, we can tell you that the hair got completely soaked anyway.

After they all went home, there was much splishing and splashing going on in bathtubs, and Hot Chocolate never tasted better!

"Oh my!" exclaimed Mrs. Noppa. She and Mr. Poppa had been out for a walk for maybe half an hour. "Hey Mom, Dad,  look at this!" shouted Poppa Boy. "Get down this minute" said Mom. "Hi Mom and Dad, see the splash I made with the orange!" giggled  Noppa girl. "Children, you better clean up this mess" said Papa Poppa. "Oh, come on, cleaning isn't fun. THIS is fun!" the kids said . They were right, cleaning wasn't fun, but they had to do it.
